Grass fire burns 9 acres, gets close to homes near Hart Park

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A grass fire threatened homes and burned construction equipment Monday near Hart Park.

Firefighters were called to the area of Round Mountain Road and Amaya Court for a report of a fast-moving fire just before 11 a.m. Multiple homes in the area were threated, fire officials said.

Firefighters were able to stop forward progress of the fire at 9 acres. No homes were damaged and no injuries were reported.

The Kern County Fire Department reminds residents to maintain defensible space around properties.
