In an annual tradition, fifth grade students at Granville Intermediate School created posters around the theme "Trees are Terrific ... in All Shapes and Sizes" to honor National Arbor Day.

On April 26, the Granville Tree and Landscape Commission presented a school assembly centered around the importance of trees in the environment, the benefits of trees, and the history of Arbor Day. Granville Village Council member Joe Leithauser read a proclamation signed by Mayor Melissa Hartfield.

A red maple tree, donated by American Electric Power, was selected and prepared for planting by Mike Flood and Albyn’s Landscape and Nursery. The new tree was planted outside the sixth grade classroom windows.

The winners received Whit’s gift cards and T-shirts. Their posters are currently on display in the Granville Village Hall window.
