Granville Community Foundation welcomes 4 new board members

The Granville Community Foundation has welcomed Whitney Crane, Dan Dodd, Kirsten Fox and Cipriano Martinez as new board members in 2024. Crane, Dodd and Martinez replace Angela Katona, Scott Miller and Deb Tegtmeyer who all completed their six-year tenure in December 2023. Each of those three new board members will have the opportunity to serve two three-year terms. Fox replaces Scott Mortimer and will serve as the ex officio representative for the Granville Exempted Village School District.

Whitney Crane

Crane’s background is rooted in public health for both research institutions and not-for-profitorganizations with roles in program evaluation, philanthropy, grant-making and non-profitdevelopment. She currently sits on the board of the United Way of Licking County and served asthe Vice President of Community Impact during the 2024 application cycle, overseeing grantapplications and evaluations for their 45 funded programs. She is involved with the Crane Groupand Crane Family Foundation philanthropy, and volunteers locally with Hospice of Central Ohio,Granville Elementary School, and the Newark Emergency Warming Center. Crane is agraduate of New York University and the Yale School of Public Health and lives in the villagewith her husband and son.

Dan Dodd
Dan Dodd

Dodd brings a wealth of experience in policy analysis, coalition building, grassroots organizing, media relations and fundraising that will be put to use on the foundation’s finance and grant committees. Professionally, Dodd works as both the Vice President of Government Relations at ZHF Consulting and as Executive Director of the Ohio Association of Independent Schools. In both positions, Dodd collaborates with schools and businesses across the state and serves as a lobbyist and legislative agent. He also served as a state representative in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2007-2010. Dodd, his wife and their children relocated from the Buckeye Lake region where he was the secretary of the Harbor Hills Civic Association and a district representative for the Buckeye Lake Civic Association. Dodd holds a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University and a law degree from the University of Cincinnati.

Cipriano Martinez
Cipriano Martinez

Martinez is an attorney advisor with the Social Security Administration and has experience in the areas of health, disability, special education and administrative law. He relocated to Granville from the Washington D.C. area five years ago and lives in the community with his wife and family, who are all familiar with the Granville community due to his spouse’s employment as a tenured professor atDenison University. Martinez currently serves as the President for the Partners in Educationat Welsh Hills School, the President of the Board of Trustees for Welsh Hills School and as thecommunications officer for the Bryn Du Woods Homeowners Association. He will be serving onthe foundation’s nominations/board development and grants committees. Martinez holds bachelor's and law degrees both from the University of Maryland.

Kirsten Fox
Kirsten Fox

Fox was selected by the Granville school district to serve as the ex officio representative for the school district and will help maintain fluid communication and cooperative support between the two organizations. Fox brings 20 years of experience in non-profit and higher education management to the foundation. She has held a number of positions across the country with experience in non-profit and educational leadership, management, budgeting and public relations. Currently, Fox serves as the Executive Director of the Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society and oversees day-to-day operations for the non-profit, provides strategic long and short term visionary leadership and acts as the Principal Officer for the organization’s National Foundation. She will serve on GCF’s marketing and grants committees and is also a trustee for the board of the Granville Recreation District. Fox holds a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University, a master's in education from the University of Vermont and a doctorate from the University of Maryland. She lives in the village with her husband and two children.
