Grand Mesa visitor center to remain closed

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The Grand Valley Ranger District announced Monday the Grand Mesa visitor center will remain closed for the upcoming season.

Officials say the decision to remain closed was due to budget and personnel restrictions and was not made lightly.

Visitors will still be able to enjoy the Grand Mesa while the visitor center is closed. Informative signs with information about the area’s attractions, trails and safety guidelines will be placed around the forest. Wi-Fi will be available in the area surrounding the visitor center and restrooms will stay open for public use.

“We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of forest visitors during this closure,” said Grand Valley District Ranger Bill Edwards. “Information and resources are still available online or by calling our Ranger District office. We encourage recreators to plan their trip in advance and Know Before You Go.”
