Graham County Sheriff’s Office locates vehicle of alleged jewelry scammers

GRAHAM COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — According to the Graham County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, they have located the vehicle of alleged jewelry scammers in the area Tuesday afternoon.

“The vehicle has been located at Studley,” said the GCSO at 12:34 p.m. “GHSO and SDSO officers are out with it now.”

The GCSO stated earlier in the day that they were getting reports that the jewelry scammers were back.

The car in question is a white GMC Acadia with New York plates, according to the GCSO.

Colorado man killed in crash in western Kansas

At the beginning of February, the GCSO made the public aware of how jewelry scammers work through a Facebook post.

Over the last 10 days, reports have come across different areas in North West Kansas that 2 Men have been seen attempting to signal drivers to pull over and then attempt to sell items or simply ask for gas money. These scam artists were reported in Graham County a few days prior, however, law enforcement was not able to make contact with them. That these reports are showing these men are conducting these scams well outside of city limites is concerning. Though it is not our nature, when you observe a vehicle on the side of the road, please do not stop unless you know the vehicle or driver. Instead call your local law enforcement agency and let us come see what is going on. The more encounters with law enforcement these scammers have, the quicker they will leave the area.”

It is unknown if the scammers from earlier this year are the same ones as Tuesday.
