Governor, Ball State president to participate in 'state of the schools' public meeting

MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie Community Schools will host a "state of the schools" community meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Southside Middle School, 1601 E. 26th St.

According to a news release, the meeting will offer "an update on the innovative partnership between Muncie Community Schools and Ball State University, which began in 2018."

Gov. Eric Holcomb and Geoffrey S. Mearns, Ball State president, will speak at the event.

Wednesday's meeting will "inform people on the progress MCS has made since it became the only public school system in the country to partner with a state university in this unique manner," the release stated.

The meeting is open to the public. A reception will begin at 6 p.m.

The meeting will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SOtKqXz27E and later broadcast by Ball State PBS at 5:30 p.m. May 21 and at 8 a.m. May 26.
