Jan. 12—Gov. Kay Ivey announced today that Decatur, Hartselle and Trinity will each receive grants from the Alabama Transportation and Rehabilitation Improvement Program II.

Decatur will receive $1.53 million for improvements to the Upper River Road-Alabama 67 intersection.

Hartselle is getting $480,619 for improvements to U.S. 31 South from Curry to Sparkman Street, while Trinity was awarded $1.22 million for the upgrade to the Alabama 24 intersection with South Greenway Drive and West Morgan Road.

Ivey announced more than $40 million in state transportation funding to cities and counties for various road and bridge projects.

State Sen. Arthur Orr, R-Decatur, serves on the ATRIP-II committee. Created by the Rebuild Alabama Act, ATRIP-II is an annual program that sets aside a minimum of $30 million off the top of the Alabama Department of Transportation's share of new gas tax revenue for projects of local interest on the state highway system.
