DENVER (KDVR) — On Thursday, several Republican state representatives pushed another attempt at the impeachment of Secretary of State Jena Griswold.

In a letter to Speaker of the House Julie McCluskie, Rep. Ryan Armagost and 16 other representatives with the Colorado House Republicans said Griswold “used her position as a political platform for her partisan ideology.”

The letter comes after the Supreme Court overruled a group of voters who tried to remove former President Donald Trump from Colorado’s primary ballot.

After the final ruling on Monday, which allowed Trump to appear on the presidential ballot, Griswold has been outspoken about her disappointment with the ruling.

Days later, state house GOP members asked for the impeachment based on her push to remove Trump from the ballot.

The letter states:

“The Secretary of State has consistently been criticized for her lack of transparency and questionable bias. Her partisan political beliefs are constantly the subject of her communication to the state indicating her lack of respect for facilitating unbiased and fair elections. The Secretary of State’s request for the removal of a Presidential Candidate from a primary ballot, on the basis of accusations and personal feelings, demonstrates a lack of professionalism and integrity.”

The letter claims that the removal of Trump from the ballot would have “silenced the voice of Coloradans statewide, thus displaying a direct threat to Coloradans’ freedom of speech.”

In response, Griswold released a statement to FOX31:

“The Colorado Republican Party continues to focus on conspiracies and political games. I will not be intimidated by this baseless proceeding. While the Republican House Caucus wastes taxpayer dollars to score cheap political points, you can find me working for Colorado voters – Republican, Democratic, and Unaffiliated alike – to ensure they can make their voices heard in free and fair elections.”

The representatives pushing for the impeachment include Representatives Ryan Armagost, Rose Pugliese, Ty Winter, Scott Bottoms, Mary Bradfield, Brandi Bradley, Marc Catlin, Ken DeGraaf, Gabe Evans, Lisa Frizell, Anthony Hartsook, Richard Holtorf, Mike Lynch, Matt Soper, Rick Taggart, Ron Weinberg and Don Wilson.

According to the letter, the representatives tried to remove Griswold from her position in early February. The hearing has yet to be scheduled.

In the letter, representatives are calling for an immediate rescheduling.
