Google warns job cuts will cost Motorola $340 million
Just because Google (GOOG) plans to save money with massive job cuts at Motorola, that doesn’t mean those cuts will come cheaply. Google on Thursday projected that its Motorola Mobility unit will incur roughly “$340 million in severance and other costs in the third quarter” and warned that further restructuring may be needed, Reuters reports. Google said this past summer that it planned to lay off a whopping 20% of Motorola’s workforce and would close one-third of the company’s offices worldwide.
