When you're searching for the best spot to take your happy hour crowd, Google's already your go-to (especially when no one can make a single suggestion). It can give you literally thousands of results-some helpful, some not so relevant-a business's hours, and all-too-honest reviews of the place, but a new feature that tells you just how crowded your favorite bar or restaurant is at any given time.

According to ZD Net, Google has launched a "live preview" feature that sends you real-time updates with estimates of how busy different locales are.

The company also noted that it hopes to help users navigate unusual busy periods over the holidays not just at watering holes and eateries but at retail stores and shopping malls.

What's more, there's a location summary tool that will let you know how long consumers typically stay at a certain spot. So, if your favorite beer bar is full up around 8 p.m. and people tend to leave after an hour, you can check back in around 9 p.m. to see how things fare then. Or you can run an errand before popping into your go-to restaurant while you wait for the crowd to peter out.
