Google just released a keyboard for the iPhone with built-in search

Google just announced and launched a new keyboard for the iPhone that it's calling Gboard. The keyboard has built-in Google search functionality, as well as GIF and emoji search. Best of all, you can use it in any app.

With a standard keyboard, any text conversation that necessitates looking up information would require you to physically leave the messaging app in order to go to the browser and search.

With Gboard, all you have to do is tap the big Google 'G' in the upper left hand corner and a search field will appear. Search for that restaurant or flight or movie and a card will appear with all the relevant information. A single tap then allows you to share that card in the text thread, without anyone ever leaving the app.

But that's not all! You can also search for specific words and phrases to find the emoji you're looking for, rather than having to scroll through a seemingly endless list of smiley faces. You can also tap a single button to search for GIFs, in case you need to respond to a text with a moving image of keyboard cat.

Last, but certainly not least, Gboard is also equipped with Glide Typing, "which lets you type words by sliding your finger from key to key instead of tapping—so everything you do is just a little bit faster."

You can download the Gboard app now on the App Store.
