Goodyear appoints new city manager

The Goodyear City Council appointed Wynette Reed as new city manager during an executive session after the City Council meeting on Monday night.

The previous city manager, Julie Karins, announced her resignation. She plans to move to the Kansas City area to be closer to her children.

Karins' last day will be Feb. 24, and Reed will take over then as the new city manager.

Reed has worked in government for 36 years and has been in leadership positions for 25 years. She has been with Goodyear since 2011. She started as human resources director for the city before being promoted to deputy city manager, according to a news release.

Reed graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor's degree in biological sciences and a master's degree in organizational leadership. She also was awarded a certificate of completion for the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program from Harvard University and John F. Kennedy School of Government for Executive Education.
