Goodman honored with Frank E. Bentley Sr. Leadership Award
Apr. 18—THOMASVILLE — Deborah L. Goodman, a stalwart member of the Rotary Club of Thomasville, has been awarded the prestigious Frank E. Bentley Sr. Fellow Leadership Award by District 6900 in recognition of her outstanding service and leadership in the Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP).
For nearly three decades, Goodman has been an integral part of the Rotary Club of Thomasville, dedicating herself to the advancement of the GRSP's mission of promoting world peace through education and cultural understanding.
Since 2002, Goodman has spearheaded the club's fundraising efforts for the GRSP, ensuring that the club's monetary donations have exceeded $600,000 since records began. Her leadership was particularly highlighted during the Generations of Generosity campaign, where she played a pivotal role in raising funds for the GRSP Peace Plaza and William A. Watt Memorial Fountain.
Goodman's commitment to the GRSP extends beyond fundraising. She and her husband have opened their home to host GRSP students and have even traveled to Chile to reconnect with one of the program's alumni. Additionally, Goodman played a crucial role in organizing the 2021-2022 Conclave and has been a valuable resource for new members of the GRSP staff.
In recognition of her unwavering dedication and exemplary leadership, Goodman was presented with the Frank E. Bentley Sr. Fellow Leadership Award during the 2023-2024 District 6900 Conference in late March 2024. The award, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs, was bestowed upon Goodman by District Governor Andre' Marria and Frank E. Bentley Jr.
Goodman's tireless efforts in advancing the goals of the GRSP have not only enriched the lives of countless students but have also furthered the cause of international goodwill and understanding. Her exemplary service truly embodies the spirit of Rotary's mission to promote peace and harmony across the globe.
