When is Good Friday? Here's when the religious day is and how to observe it in Des Moines

Just two days before Easter, many Christians worldwide will observe the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ.

The day is known as Good Friday, which falls on the Friday before Easter Sunday.

This year, both holy days will take place in March.

When is Good Friday?

Good Friday is on March 29. Easter is on Sunday, March 31. The dates of Easter, and therefore Good Friday, change each year because Easter is to fall on the first Sunday "after the full moon that follows the spring equinox," USA TODAY reported in 2023.

What is Good Friday?

Easter is when Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But death comes before resurrection. Good Friday is when Christians remember the crucifixion of Jesus and his death. Good Friday is not a federal holiday. It does take place during Holy Week, or the week leading up to Easter.
