Gonzales City Council to vote on interim mayor in Monday meeting

GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) — Members of the Gonzales City Council will vote on the interim mayor position in a meeting on Monday, May 13.

The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. According to the meeting agenda, the council will vote on an appointment to fill the vacancy in the mayor’s office.

Former Mayor Barney Arceneaux announced in April that he was moving on after 16 years in office. Arceneaux had been mayor since 2009 and led the city’s expansion to build parks and recreation facilities.

He will take on a new role as the Executive Director for the Louisiana Municipal Association.

The vote is No. 19 on the agenda list. City Hall is located at 120 S. Irma Blvd.
