Gone fishing: Hundreds of trout added to Lake Quinsigamond

WORCESTER — About 200 people showed up at Regatta Park Wednesday to watch the stocking of Lake Quinsigamond with trout. Members of state Division of Fisheries & Wildlife arrived with two tankers holding 900 brown trout and 700 rainbow trout. Some families helped carry them across the beach to the water. Each year, the state adds about 500,000 brook, brown, rainbow and tiger trout to various lake and ponds. There are hatcheries in Sandwich, Palmer, Belchertown, Sunderland, and Montague.
