Goldman CEO completes third day of NY testimony

Goldman CEO finishes and prosecution rests in NY insider case against ex-Goldman board member

NEW YORK (AP) -- Goldman Sachs chief executive Lloyd Blankfein (BLANK'-fyn) has completed three days of testimony in the New York insider trading trial of a former Goldman board member.

A lawyer for defendant Rajat Gupta (rahj-AHT' GOOP'-tah) repeatedly tried to elicit answers from Blankfein on Friday to support the defense claim that anything Gupta told a billionaire hedge fund founder in 2008 was already widely known.

The government used Blankfein to try to prove that Gupta on several occasions divulged secrets he learned from Goldman board meetings.

Blankfein was the government's last witness. The government then rested and the defense began calling witnesses to testify on Gupta's behalf. The trial is expected to wrap up next week.
