A GoFundMe has been started for the brother and sister police say were killed in a domestic violence incident in Blacksburg, South Carolina, in February.

Kings Mountain Police said on Feb. 28, Sajad Damon Roberts, 50, was found dead at his home on Landry Drive of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was a suspect in a double homicide in Blacksburg, and police said he shot his wife, Shenita Merchelle Roberts, and her brother, Darriach Derowne Mack, at Mack's home in South Carolina before he returned to Kings Mountain and turned the gun on himself.

“Whatever domestic situation was going on, apparently she had left the house and was seeking another place, and I guess she found that there with her brother at his house in Cherokee County,” said Kings Mountain Police Chief Gerald Childress.

He previously said the department didn’t have any record in their system that would indicate a past history of domestic violence.

Shenita Roberts, 48, left behind two children.

Charlie Mack, brother of Shenita Roberts, and Darriach Mack, started a GoFundMe.

He wrote that his siblings “tragically lost their lives to domestic violence,” and the family was asking for assistance with funeral expenses as neither had insurance at the time.

“My sister leaves behind two children aged 9 and 17. My brother had no children, but he treated all of our kids as if they were his own. Thank you all in advance for helping us in our time need. We love you all,” Charlie Mack said.

By Tuesday afternoon, nearly $9,000 had been raised.

In addition to GoFundMe, a memorial fundraiser was held at Marco’s Pizza in Boiling Springs, South Carolina, earlier this week.

Genesis Funeral Services & Chapel is handling the funeral arrangements, which are still incomplete.

People shared memories, condolences and prayers on the funeral home’s page.

One person called Darriach “a man of integrity.”

“Shenita was just as beautiful inside as she was in outward appearance,’” said Zeppora McClain. “I am deeply saddened about the sudden, unfortunate loss of such a lovely person with a smile that would brighten your day. My sincere condolences to the family. My prayers are with you and especially her children.”

Tracy Wilson said she first met Shenita at her hair salon 20 years ago and said she was like a little sister to her.

“You were sunshine to all in your world,” Wilson wrote. “Your purpose on earth has come to an end but your impact will last a lifetime.”
