God's directive: Gloria and Michael Mosholder open Mossy's Corner Drive Thru in New Castle

COSHOCTON − Gloria Mosholder said God told her in a dream to build a drive-thru and gas station in the rural New Castle area. It took her husband Michael some time to come around.

Mossy's Corner Drive Thru and Gas Station opened Monday at 32012 U.S. 36. Part of the venture is their daughter Michelle Dorsey and her husband, Robert, who hope to have The Corn Crib Restaurant open by May 1, site of the former Peggy Sue's Steak and Ribs and Newcastle Farmhaus.

Michelle and Robert Dorsey and Michael and Gloria Mosholder recently opened Mossy's Corner Drive Thru on U.S. 36 in New Castle. The gas station portion should be completed and ready for use in about a month.

The gas station portion should be open sometime in April. There will be four gas pumps, two diesel pumps and one pump for off-road fuel.

The drive-thru offers pop, beer, snacks and other standard drive-thru items along with pizza, subs and chicken. There are six employees.

In the future, they want to add essentials such as bread, milk and eggs. There are plans to sell straw and deer feed in the fall and live fishing bait as well. Breakfast sandwiches could be added too.

About four years ago, Gloria told Michael about her dream. Michael initially said no, as it would be a massive undertaking.

Gloria was quiet about the matter. However, the family took a trip to the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky. Throughout the attraction, it's repeated how Noah built the ark because God told him to. That made an impression on Michael and the rest of the family. That was about two years ago.

"He then said 'Gloria, I'm going to support you, because if the Lord told you to do it, I'm supporting you,'" Gloria said. "I've served the Lord for 40 years, so I hear his voice."

When the project started, Michael then saw the need for a gas station. As a former truck driver, he knew there wasn't much on U.S. 36 between Coshocton and Mount Vernon.

While the official opening day was Monday, they had doors open last Saturday while working on the facility. Michael said people stopped in from all over and he was surprised by the overwhelming support.

"It was all open arms. I had people hugging me who I had no idea who they were," Michael said. " I told (Gloria) when we went home 'I talked more today than I think I've ever talked and to people who I don't know.' But they all said they loved the idea and would support us."

Mossy's Corner is currently open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Days and hours will change once the gas pumps open. For more information, call 740-502-1524 or find them on Facebook.
