Goalkeeper Andreas Luthe will play his first match for VfL Bochum in more than eight years in Saturday's Bundesliga date with RB Leipzig.

Luthe, 36, will be between the posts because first choice Manuel Riemann is suspended, and back-ups Niclas Thiede and Michael Esser injured.

Luthe, who came through Bochum's academy, last played for the club in November 2015. He returned to Bochum in January from second tier Kaiserslautern, having previously also been at Union Berlin and Augsburg.

"Only football writes stories like this," Bochum coach Thomas Letsch said on Friday. "He will be on the pitch again. He is an experienced goalkeeper and will do his job."

Bochum in 15th are eight points clear of the danger zone while fifth-placed Leipzig are chasing a top four finish, one point adrift of Borussia Dortmund.
