Glenn Beck to Be Replaced by Five Talking Heads

Glenn Beck to Be Replaced by Five Talking Heads

Just two hours before the airing of Glenn Beck's final show, Fox News announced that a talk show featuring a rotating panel of five Fox contributors will fill the 5 p.m. time slot. It's called "The Five." According to the Fox News press release, "The new opinion show will feature a roundtable ensemble of five rotating FOX personalities who will discuss, debate and at times debunk the hot news stories, controversies and issues of the day." The network also provided a sneak preview of the guest list:

Some of the revolving FOX personalities to be showcased in the weekly ensemble include: Greg Gutfeld, Juan Williams, Dana Perino, Judge Andrew Napolitano, Geraldo Rivera, Andrea Tantaros, Eric Bolling, Monica Crowley, Bob Beckel and Kimberly Guilfoyle. The program will also feature added guests, including politicians, celebrities, sports figures and key newsmakers.

Brian Stelter at The New York Times reports that "The Five" isn't necessarily geared towards recapturing Beck's massive audience of 2 million daily viewers. "By bringing on a rotating group of people, Fox avoids any direct ratings comparisons between Mr. Beck and any single replacement host," says Stelter. The new show will begin July 11 and the network will air reruns of The Glenn Beck Show until then.
