Spring and color always go hand-in-hand to me. While I usually associate pastel colors with the season, this year, anything goes... including bright, bold colors. The new issue of 'InStyle' celebrates color; and here are a few trends to check out for inspiration.
Sport One Color Head-to-Toe Rocking a bright monochromatic look (like Blake Lively) can make you appear longer and leaner! By pairing different shades and textures of the same color, you can make basic pieces into a statement. Start practicing this crowd-pleasing trend by investing in pieces that can be worn together or separately, like a suit.
Focus on Fab Frames Trade in your tortoiseshells for specs with some 'tude! When looking for new specs, contrast is key: reds and purples work best for fair-skinned blondes, blues for brunettes, and shocking shades work best for darker skin and hair. Look for shades with a flash of unexpected color to make a statement!
Bat Oh-La-La Eyes It's a look that's part surfer girl, part elegant seductress - a cool swatch of color underscoring your baby blues, browns, or greens. As seen on the spring runway, this look works for any eye color. Re-create the look by starting at the inner corner of your eye with a silver liner. Use a bold jewel tone at the center and then emphasize the outer corner with a black wing shape!
Pump Up Your Mani Bring the glam of 1920s art deco design into your life with a moon mani, starring two contrasting shades. Paint on the darker hue. Use French manicure strips to create a border for the moon shape, and paint on the fluorescent color. Peel off the manicure strips when dry, and enjoy your new pumped up look!
Electrify Your Lips Runway makeup artists have ditched girl-next-door pinks for fluorescent pouts. (Like Kerry Washington) Start by exfoliating lips, pat on some foundation, and use a pencil to ensure a neat outline. Then carefully apply the bold hue of your choice!
