‘Girlboss’: Johnny Simmons Cast In Netflix Series
Johnny Simmons is set as a male lead opposite Britt Robertson in Girlboss, Netflix’s 13-episode comedy series inspired by Sophia Amoruso’s popular autobiography.
Written/executive produced by Pitch Perfect scribe Kay Cannon and to be directed by Christian Ditter, Girlboss hails from Charlize Theron’s Denver & Delilah production company. It centers on Sophia (Robertson), a rebellious, broke anarchist who refuses to grow up. She stumbles upon her passion of selling vintage clothes online and becomes an unlikely businesswoman. As she builds her retail fashion empire, she realizes the value and the difficulty of being the boss of her own life.
Simmons will play Shane, an indie band tour manager and occasional drummer who is smitten with Sophia.
Simmons toplines Transpecos, which won the 2016 audience awards for narrative feature competition at SXSW. He also co-stars in two films that debuted in Tribeca Festival this year, Robert Schwartzman’s Dreamland and Noah Buschel’s The Phenom. Simmons is repped by ICM Partners, Anonymous Content and Sloane Offer Weber and Dern.
