Girl, 17, suspected of DUI after crashing into Ventura County home

A teenage girl was arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into a Newbury Park home in Ventura County Monday night.

The incident was reported when a wrong-way driver was spotted shortly after 8:15 p.m. in the area of Mountain Creek Drive and Gentle Creek Circle.

That report was followed a short time later by calls of a vehicle into a home, a spokesperson for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said.

Video from the scene showed the vehicle engulfed in flames. A good Samaritan could be seen trying to put out the blaze before firefighters arrived and doused it.

Deputies located two 17-year-old females, the vehicle’s driver and a passenger, near the scene.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run, the spokesperson said.

The passenger was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and resisting or delaying an investigation.

No injuries were reported.

The extent of the damage to the home was not yet known.
