Gigi Hadid has just announced that she will no longer be walking in this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai.

"I’m so bummed I won’t be able to make it to China this year," she wrote on Twitter. "Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can't wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can't wait for next year! :)"

While Hadid did not disclose the reason she can't make it, she isn't the only confirmed model to no longer be walking. Reports have circulated that some models were denied Chinese visas for the show.

Gigi dropping out of the show comes as the model came under fire earlier this year, when sister Bella posted a video in February in which Gigi can be seen squinting her eyes as she holds up a Buddha biscuit - a move critics argue is an impersonation of the religious figure.

According to Metro, a fan commented on Gigi's Instagram video: "We like some people who respects us, not you. What you have done made us unhappy. And Chinese do not welcome you. So don't come to China (sic)".

Another commented, 'We don't wanna see u on Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2017 Shanghai', while others called her 'racist', 'shameful'.
