Giants DT to Jones: Injury not faked

The New York Giants player accused by the Dallas Cowboys of faking an injury during last Sunday's game fired back on Thursday.

Giants defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins took aim at Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who suggested that New York was trying to slow down the Dallas offense with a contrived injury in its season-opening victory.

"Maybe he should get his son-in-law to clean his glasses a little better," Jenkins said of Jones.

"I don't know what he saw if he thinks I was faking."

Jenkins went to the sideline for treatment on what he said was an injured left shoulder. He returned to the game.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and tight end Jason Witten said they believed Jenkins was trying to disrupt the rhythm of the Dallas offense with a faux injury.

However, no formal inquiry was filed with the league office this week by the Cowboys regarding their claim, the NFL announced.

"I guess at his age I'm just glad he still has a sense of humor," Jenkins said of Jones. "They got the win, so they got the last laugh."

The 31-year-old veteran had two tackles in the opener against the Cowboys.
