Giant Forest at Sequoia National Park to close due storm

SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The access to the Giant Forest at the Sequoia National Park is set to close on Friday evening due to the upcoming winter storm, park officials announced.

Officials say the General’s Highway leading up to the Giant Forest area in Sequoia National Park is scheduled to close, meaning there will not be access to giant sequoias or snow play areas in the park. If the forecast is accurate, the road is likely to remain closed through the weekend.

Park officials say the Grant Grove in Kings Canyon National Park is likely to remain open, as it is a much easier road to maintain. However, they urge visitors to avoid driving up during an active storm.
