Ghostbusters star Finn Wolfhard reveals Slimer secret

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire star Finn Wolfhard has revealed what it feels like to be slimed.

The Stranger Things actor returns alongside Mckenna Grace and Paul Rudd in the sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which sees the return of the original Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and glowing green ghost Slimer.

Wolfhard appeared on The One Show with Grace and Hudson to discuss making the latest installment in the franchise and revealed the slime in the new movie is not CGI but he preferred it to the fake blood used on film sets.

What, how, and why?

Host Jermaine Jenas asked Wolfhard what it was like being covered with slime in the new film.

The 21-year-old actor said: "It's what you think it is!" He went on: "The nice part about filming this is a lot of this was practical which you don't get in a lot of new stuff. There's obviously a lot of CGI stuff but there's so much amazing practical things — there's puppets and all these things which give it a different energy. And on this one they used the same moulds from the very original, so it's the [Slimer] puppet from the first one.

"And the slime itself was just... It's cold, it's freezing cold and you're in it all day but it really wasn't horrible. I had to put it in my mouth, it wasn't as bad as... I've done fake blood before and that's way worse. Slime over that all the way."

Ernie Hudson, 78, who plays Winston in the film franchise also revealed that he has kept all his Ghostbusters jumpsuits from the movies, after being persuaded by the late Harold Ramis, who played Egon and wrote the first two films, that they should take them home from set.

Hudson explained: "The studio is very, very protective of their assets. And the first movie on the last day Harold Ramis said to me, 'Are you going to take your jumpsuit?' And I said, 'No I don't think we're allowed.'

"And he said, 'Ernie, we're the Ghostbusters!' And so I have my jumpsuits from all the movies!"

What else happened on The One Show?

Jamie Cullum addressed rumours that he is banned from standing on pianos when he performs live.

The 44-year-old jazz musician admitted he has developed a habit of jumping off pianos during his concerts and admitted he has played at some venues where he has been told he is not allowed to.

Cullum admitted: "Jumping off the pianos has become a thing, I'm going to have to retire it one day. I'm going to need a crash mat." He went on: "When I was young I saw Harry Connick Jr tap dancing on a piano.

"I saw Ben Folds do an entire song on top of a piano and I thought, 'I need a bit of that as well!' So I just started standing on it."

Roman Kemp asked if it is true he has been banned from some venues for jumping off the piano.

Cullum said: "There has literally been a handful of times where they said, 'Please don't stand on our piano', which is fair enough, they are a precision instrument. It just kind of became a thing and I don't know how to stop!"
