Julian Nagelsmann said on Thursday he would like to make a decision on his coaching future before the Euro 2024 home tournament.

Nagelsmann, 36, was appointed national team coach in succession to Hansi Flick in September on a short contract until the end of the June 14-July 14 Euros.

It is believed he wants to return to club coaching afterwards, following previous terms at Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich, in order to work with players every day again.

Regarding the national team position, the domestic federation DFB wants to wait to see how Germany fare at the home Euros.

"If I have a contract offer before the European Championship that I am happy with and where I say I feel comfortable and where I see myself, then there is a high probability that I will sign it before the European Championship," Nagelsmann told reporters.

"I feel no stress.

"There is a chance that something will happen before the European Championship. But as things stand now, there's also a chance that nothing will happen before the European Championship. That's de facto the case, and I'm not lying about that.

"It's normal that I want to organize the future. I think everyone has that desire. As things stand now, there's nothing there."

Nagelsmann was speaking following the squad nomination for upcoming friendlies against France and the Netherlands for which he picked six newcomers in a big shake-up.

Nagelsmann won his first game as national team coach against the US but then drew with Mexico and lost against Turkey and Austria.
