Germany’s Rheinmetall to produce tanks, anti-air systems, and ammunition in Ukraine

Papperger said that in the coming weeks, Rheinmetall will sign several agreements on cooperation and the establishment of joint ventures with a range of Ukrainian companies.

According to the CEO, these joint ventures will involve the production of combat vehicles, air defense systems, and ammunition.

"In this way, we are giving Ukraine the opportunity to defend itself in the medium and long term; investments in new plants will come from the Ukrainian state," said Papperger.

As an example, Papperger cited plans to build Panther main battle tanks in Ukraine.

According to his estimates, up to 400 Panther tanks could be produced annually. The CEO added that preliminary negotiations with Kyiv regarding this project are “promising.”
