German FM warns Russia of consequenses after Russian GRU cyberattacks

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that hacker attack on Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in 2023 was work of Russian-affiliated hacker group APT28, DW reported on May 2.

Process of determining source of attack at national level has recently been completed, she said.

"Today we can unequivocally trace this attack to APT28 group, which is run by Russian military intelligence service GRU," Baerbock said.

"This is completely unacceptable and will not be left without consequences," she added.

Hacker group APT28 is also known as Fancy Bear. It is credited with a number of hacker attacks around the world.
