Germany will have to supply weapons and ammunition to Ukraine for a long time to come, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in an interview with the Taz newspaper on April 12.

He added that he understands fears of German population about escalation of this war.

Scholz said he supports a course that "combines unwavering support for Ukraine with policies that prevent escalation of war between Russia and NATO."

He said that Germany will support Ukraine "as long as it takes."
