MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Former South Alabama Jaguars tight end Gerald Everett is set to make an impact with a new team this upcoming 2024 NFL season.

On Tuesday, Everett signed a two-year, $12 million base value deal with the Chicago Bears, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Everett’s deal can earn him up to $14 million. He is fully guaranteed $6.1 million.

He will play with his fourth team since entering the league in 2017. Everett spent the last two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers. His best season was in 2022 when he caught 58 receptions for 555 yards and four touchdowns.

Last season for the Chargers, he caught 46 receptions for 376 yards and three touchdowns.
Everett became the first player for South Alabama to be selected in the 2017 NFL Draft when he was picked by the Los Angeles Rams in the second round (No. 44 overall pick).

He spent his first four seasons with the Rams followed by one season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2021.

In the 105 games and 44 starts in his career, Everett has caught 279 receptions for 2,798 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also rushed for a touchdown in 2020.

One of the most distinguished attributes of Everett as a pass catcher is his yards after catch where he averaged 5 yards after reception in each of the last four seasons.

Everett joins a Bears offense run by offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, his former coach with the Rams, that could potentially utilize a two-tight end system. He is listed as the second-string tight end behind long-time starter Cole Kmet, according to ESPN.

The Bears have the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft where they are projected to draft a quarterback.
