George Will Says Donald Trump Now ‘Nation’s Worst President’

President Trump is now the nation’s worst president. At least according to Washington Post columnist George Will.

Will, a known conservative pundit and an outspoken Trump critic, tore into the president in an op-ed Thursday, arguing that Trump’s support of Alabama GOP Senate candidate and accused child molester Roy Moore disqualifies him from public office.

“He is an anti-constitutional recidivist, twice removed from Alabama’s highest court for his theocratic insistence that his religious convictions take precedence over U.S. Supreme Court decisions, so he could not have sincerely sworn to ‘support and defend the Constitution’ and to ‘bear true faith and allegiance to the same,'” Will wrote about Moore.

“After the president’s full-throated support of the grotesque, he should be icily shunned by all but his diehard collaborators,” Will wrote.

Will went on to argue that Trump’s decision to back Moore makes him officially the “nation’s worst president.”

“By joining Stephen K. Bannon’s buffoonery on Moore’s behalf, the 45th president planted an exclamation point punctuating a year of hitherto unplumbed presidential depths,” he wrote. “He completed his remarkably swift — it has taken less than 11 months — rescue of the 17th, Andrew Johnson, from the ignominy of ranking as the nation’s worst president.”

After initially supporting Moore’s primary opponent Luther Strange, Trump endorsed Moore in Alabama’s Senate race. But Moore suffered a crushing defeat Tuesday after multiple women came forward alleging the former Alabama judge sexually assaulted them when they were in their teens and he was in his 30s. Moore has denied the allegations.
