The Opening Serve: Will took the first shot during his appearance on ABC's This Week with George Stephanopolous on Sunday. Will was asked if he saw any benefit to Mitt Romney allying himself with Trump, and he didn't hold back. "What voter is going to vote for him because he’s seen with Donald Trump?" Will asked. "The cost of appearing with this bloviating ignoramus is obvious, it seems to me. Donald Trump is redundant evidence that if your net worth is high enough, your IQ can be very low, and you can still intrude into American politics." Burn notice.

The Return Volley: We'll admit we're a little disappointed with Trump's response. He took to Twitter last night to call Will "the dumbest(and most overrated) political commentator of all time." He added that, "If the Republicans listen to him, they will lose."

What They Say They're Fighting About: Mitt Romney's campaign for President. Both are conservative commentators, whether we like it or not, and both would like to think they know the best ways to help him win.

What They're Really Fighting About: Relevancy? Will was sort-of right when he said Trump uses his money to force himself into the political realm. He recently announced he wants to start his own super PAC. He's had a rocky relationship with Romney in past, but Romney started appreciating Trump's attention when Trump endorsed him in February. Trump promised voters in March that Romney was the right candidate because Romney's nothing like him, but he hasn't had much to do or say since. This is, until Trump's favorite cause -- birtherism -- enjoyed a small renaissance last week. Trump's always aspired to be a major voice in the world of conservative commentary. Meanwhile, George Will is a pulitzer prize winning conservative commentator.
Who's Winning Now: Will, hands down. Trump's not media shy, and he's a grizzled veteran when it comes to media spats. We expected a better response from him other than a disappointing tweet. Trump should have used his media sway to put himself on a Monday morning talk show and let himself get a little colorful with his response. Will said he was dumb and rich. Will called him a bloviating ignoramus, for Pete's sake!
