George and Amal Clooney Just Donated $100,000 to Help Migrant Children Separated from Their Parents

George and Amal Clooney are joining the leagues of Hollywood's A-listers—including Reese Witherspoon, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen and more—standing in opposition to the Trump administration's zero-tolerance immigration policy, which has resulted in the separation of thousands of immigrant children from their parents.
On Monday, the Clooneys revealed that their organization, The Clooney Center for Justice, is donating $100,000 to the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights, which is working in various ways to assist separated families.
In a statement to People, the couple wrote that they were thinking of their own children, 1-year-old twins Ella and Alexander, when they made the decision to donate. "At some point in the future our children will ask us: ‘Is it true, did our country really take babies from their parents and put them in detention centers?’ And when we answer yes, they’ll ask us what we did about it. What we said. Where we stood,” they wrote. “We can’t change this administration’s policy but we can help defend the victims of it.”

The Clooneys have often used their platform (as well as their pocketbooks) to take a stand on issues that are close to them. In March of this year, they donated $500,000 to March for Our Lives as a protest against gun violence, also in the names of their children. This all comes in addition to the advocacy work of their foundation, which fights "for the rights of individuals unfairly targeted by oppressive governments through the courts"—not to mention Amal's work as an international human rights lawyer.
We have a feeling that when it comes to Ella and Alexander being proud of their parents, the Clooneys have nothing to worry about.
