Genius Black Teenage Just Made History at Indiana University, And That's Not Everything...
Khaya Njumbe graduated from Indiana University Northwest with a bachelor’s degree in general studies on Wednesday, according to IU Northwest News & Events.
This wouldn’t normally make news, except for one reason: Njumbe is only 15 years old.
Oftentimes, the word “genius” is overused. We use it when we see a cerebral athlete, a gifted musician or a talented writer. But in Njumbe’s case, it seems appropriate.
The teen already has three associate degrees in biology, liberal arts and general studies. Did I mention that in the process of getting his bachelor’s degree, he will also be receiving his high school diploma from 21st Century Charter High School in Gary, Ind.?
Njumbe is juggling five things and excelling at every single one of them.
But despite all the compliments, Njumbe isn’t surprised at all, telling IU Northwest News & Events, “I guess a lot of people would think that I’m surprised, didn’t think I was going to be able to do this. It’s pretty normal for me now because as far back as I can remember, that’s all I’ve known.”

He started studying at IU Northwest when he was 12 years old, balancing online and in-person classes while maintaining his passions outside of school. It wasn’t always easy being the youngest one on campus — he’s been accused of having a fake school ID when playing basketball in the Savannah Gymnasium and mistook for a professor’s grandson while taking notes in a class.
Now that he has earned his bachelor’s, Njumbe has plans to further his education by pursuing a master’s degree before going to medical school, in which he can’t enroll until he’s 18 due to labor laws.
