Gel eyeliner is the secret to getting Princess Jasmine's magical makeup look

Twenty-five years ago, our imaginations ventured into “a whole new world” with Disney’s Aladdin. The film had all the makings of a classic fairy tale: a princess searching for true love, magic carpet rides, and a good-versus-evil narrative. It was also the very first time Disney introduced a nonwhite princess, allowing young brown girls to see themselves reflected on the big screen.

Princess Jasmine’s beauty, both inner and outer, is indisputable. And even as grownups, we are still a bit envious of her perfect winged eyeliner.

Makeup artist Tedrick LaMar of the Butterfly Studio Salon shares his tips and tricks for drawing on winged eyeliner in the video above. Keep reading for product recommendations to copy this Disney princess-inspired look at home!

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Using the Sephora PRO Warm Palette, apply Saddle and Auburn eyeshadow on eyelid and at inner crease.

2. Paint Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion onto lid in a half-moon shape. Pro tip: The primer creates a cut crease effect and brightens eyes.

3. Draw on an exaggerated wing shape with gel eyeliner. LaMar’s go-to: MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Fluidline in Blacktrack.

4. Lightly dust cheeks and forehead with NARS Contour Blush in Gienah.

5. Finish with a swipe of pumpkin-spice lipstick. Try: L’Oréal Infallible Lip Paints/Mattes in Festival.
