Gear Up Southern West Virginia creates exciting plans for upcoming students

ATHENS, WV (WVNS) – Members of the GEAR UP Southern West Virginia Regional Advisory Council planned ways to help students graduate from high school.

Partners represented at the meeting include Mercer, Monroe, Summers, Raleigh, Wyoming Counties, New River CTC, and Concord University.

The new school year holds special challenges as GEAR UP SWV students will be in both middle school and high school.

Concord University to hold annual Day of Service

The Director of Gear Up Southern West Virginia, Kristen O’Sullivan, said it is amazing to have so many like-minded individuals in one room.

“It’s really exciting to see these very important and powerful people sharing ideas and cross pollinating with each other.”

Science Bowl returns to Concord University

One of the focuses of this year is helping students in Algebra 1. County school systems will also have unique strategies to meet the needs of students in that region.
