PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- The price of gas in Rhode Island has risen 2 cents in the past week, but residents are still paying significantly less than a year ago.
The latest AAA Southern New England survey, released Tuesday, found the average cost of a gallon of self-serve, regular was up to $3.59.
The price in Rhode Island has climbed 9 cents over the past month. The local per-gallon average is still 3 cents less than the national average of $3.62.
Rhode Islanders were paying an average of $3.75 a gallon a year ago at this time.
