Gas prices fall 5 cents in RI to $3.44 a gallon

Average gas prices fall a nickel in Rhode Island; have dropped 15 cents in the last month

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Gas prices in Rhode Island have fallen five cents in the last week and are down 15 cents from a month ago.

The weekly price survey by AAA Southern New England released Monday says the average cost of a gallon of regular self-serve in the state is $3.44. The average a month ago was $3.59 a gallon.

Still, the current price in Rhode Island is 15 cents higher than the national per-gallon average of $3.29.

Rhode Islanders were paying 33 cents more, or $3.77 a gallon, a year ago at this time.

The AAA survey found prices ranged from a low of $3.22 to a high of $3.67.
