Gas leak causes 2 Midtown Kansas City restaurants to evacuate

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Fire Department reported a gas leak in Midtown at Westport and Main that caused two restaurants to be evacuated in the area.

According to KCFD, crews that were working on a KC Streetcar extension cut a 3″ gas main.

As of right now, the gas has been shut off in businesses and buildings connected to the line, and KCFD is standing by while Spire crews start to repair the damage.
