Gary Richardson, C.J. Pearson hold town-hall in District 125 race

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – Voters in Georgia’s House District 125 got a chance to hear candidates’ views on various issues before the runoff election later this month.

Gary Richardson and C.J. Pearson had one last chance to gain the trust of voters Thursday night, just before the runoff election March 12th.

“You know I feel incredibly about tonight ,I think the contrast was made incredibly clear in this race on tonight, and I think now more than ever our district our community is looking for a new generation of leadership,” said C.J. Pearson, the youngest candidate running for District 125.

The Columbia County Republican Party hosted a townhall at the Greater Augusta Apostolic church, giving voters the opportunity to hear each candidate speak on different topics.

Gary Richardson, the other candidate in District 125’s runoff, said, “I feel good about it. I wish the crowd could’ve been a little bit bigger but it was a good crowd and so I feel good about it. I think there were some questions that were answered and some that weren’t answered actually.”

Pearson and Richardson explained their stand on immigration laws, abortion, and the recent tragic death of Laken Riley.

Both say they’re confident about the runoff election.

“I’m running on a common platform. I’m giving Georgia a raise by limiting the state income tax, fully backing the blue going after out of control, progressive prosecutors, who care more about pushing their politics, then actually enforcing the rule of law,” said Pearson.

“I will work every chance I can to cut their taxes role that back whether it be in the form of a gas tax reduction like we just had or whether it’s on increase in the tax credit,” explained Richardson.

The runoff election is March 12th, the same day as the Presidential Preference Primary in Georgia.
