Gareth Bale, Mesut Ozil WAGs trade lives in London, Madrid
The dust may be finally settling on Gareth Bale's record-breaking £85.3m (S$170 million) move to the glitzy lights of Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu earlier this week.
And the focus has now shifted to the Welsh superstar's partner, Emma Rhys-Jones, whose fashion sense has already taken over the gossip pages of Spanish newspapers.
After all, part of Madrid's vibrant culture is their passion for fashion, as perfectly encapsulated by sports journalist Sara Carbonero, who skyrocketed to fame after her relationship with Spain's goalkeeper, Iker Casillas.
Carbonero's sense of style has been emulated by youths from all around the capital, and it is believed that Emma may be next in line.
Described as the "anti-WAG", and a "polite family girl from Cardiff", Emma-Rhys Jones, 23, met Bale when they were attending Cardiff's Whitchurch High School together.
She is of Italian ethnicity, and according to her proud grandmother in The Daily Mail, frequently shuns the spotlight and is a "well-rounded young girl".
The couple have an adorable one-year-old baby girl named Alba, and it is believed that Bale turned down Real Madrid last season because he wanted Emma to "settle" after her birth before making the switch.
It is also believed that Bale will be keeping his party nights in Madrid to a minimum, given his strict disciplinary record at Tottenham.
Bale, who scored 30 goals in 53 appearances for both Tottenham and the Welsh national team last season, has been described as a fiercely private person.
"Gareth is a homebird and Emma's the same - they like a quiet life and their family is the most important thing to them," said friends of the player in Cardiff, when asked to describe the couple. "Emma is from a big family - they are close and supportive, she doesn't like being too far away from them."
Meanwhile, another WAG moving in the opposite direction is Mandy Capristo, girlfriend of new Arsenal signing Mesut Ozil, who is due in London after his international duty with Germany next week.
Capristo is a German popstar and model who has performed and sang on dance-themed TV shows. She was also a member of a girl band called Monrose before it disbanded in 2011 and Capristo, 23, went on to pursue a successful solo career.
According to German newspaper 'Bild, Capristo has been looking for an apartment in London with "at least" six rooms and with a budget of around £6,500 a month.
Before she met Ozil, Capristo was dating a German rapper named Kay One. She struck up a relationship with the football star after meeting him last year.
Ozil finalised his £42.5m move from Real Madrid to Arsenal this week, and it is reported that his former teammates Cristiano Ronaldo, Alvaro Arbeloa and Sami Khedira are all extremely "shocked" by his departure.
Ronaldo lamented that the German-Turkish player was the only one who comprehensively "understood" his movement on the pitch, and that the loss of Ozil was a big blow to the club.
But hey, at least Arsenal will benefit from all of this!
