Garden dedicated to former CJ paraprofessional receives donation

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — An ongoing project in Carl Junction received some timely assistance, Monday.

Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline donated a thousand dollars worth of plants to complete Mindy’s Garden on the school’s campus. Employees also got their hands dirty making it look good.

The garden was built last year – and is named in honor of Mindy Doyle – a 1997 CJ graduate who went on to work as a paraprofessional in the district’s special education department for 13 years. She passed away in May of last year after a battle with cancer.

“It makes me really — I mean it touches my heart, makes we wanna cry, because it’s — the impact that she made with everyone and people see that, and they wanted to give back and just, it, makes you feel good,” said Heather Linscheid, CJ Schools Occupational Therapist.

“This is the kind of support we get within every time we go do a community event, no matter whether it’s in this town or any other surrounding towns that we service, so, everyone here, you know, they’re, they’re bought into this. They wanna give back, ’cause the next time it may be a part of their community that where we show up at,” said Jason White, Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline Team Lead of Operations.

The connections between the company and the school district? Some employees have kids who go there – also, the son of one employee used to work with Doyle.
