Garbage truck driver arrested in relation to fatal 2021 crash

South Lebanon Township Police Department arrested 26-year-old Zachary Gilbert on March 2 in connection to a June 4, 2021, motor vehicle crash.

According to previous reporting on the incident, a garbage truck was involved in a vehicle crash on Stonehedge Drive that forced it off the road where it rolled three times.

Tyler Knowles and Richard Miller were both injured during the crash and suffered broken bones and organ damage and had to undergo multiple surgeries.

According to officials at the South Lebanon Township Police Department, Knowles, 30, died as a result of the crash.

A GoFundMe was set up in 2021 to help the families of the affected; it is still active today.

After a lengthy investigation, South Lebanon Township police said they plan to charge Gilbert, the driver of the garbage truck, with homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, recklessly endangering another person, unlawful activities, driving vehicle at unsafe speed, reckless driving and registered gross weight.
