Garage catches fire in Chesapeake, firefighter injured

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake firefighters responded to a detached garage fire in the St. Brides area of the city Monday.

Fire crews were called to the 1300 block of Taft Road just before 2 p.m. Neighbors reported seeing heavy-black smoke coming from a shed behind a house.

When crews arrived on the scene they attacked the flames with multiple hoselines.

One firefighter was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. Officials said no on was inside the shed at the time of the fire.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
