If you’re into Super Mario, this might just be your idea of the perfect place to stay.

The wacky Airbnb apartment doesn’t just feature Super Mario-themed decor, but even includes six Gameboys, a Nintendo Wii, a Nintendo 3DS and hundreds of games to keep guests entertained.

Video game programmer Andre Farinha, 32, spent thousands of euros transforming the two-bedroomed flat in Lisbon, Portugal, into a gamer’s paradise and has already been bombarded with requests from around the world since he listed it on AirBNB last month.

Scenes from the classic Japanese Nintendo game are painted in the bedroom and the apartment also features Donkey Kong curtains, arcade machine joysticks for light switches and even Super Mario and sidekick Luigi costumes.

Andre said he had spent nearly 10,000 euros on decorating the apartment, which he bought in January, but it was “worth every penny”.

He said: “I’m a big gaming fan so I wanted it to be crammed with all my favourite Nintendo gadgets.

’‘There are loads of retro items like old phones, TVs, posters and movies all throughout the flat so it’s a really unique place.”

Entertainment - there are plenty of games to keep people occupied

Andre added: ’'Some of the games are from my own collection and others I’ve bought. Nobody can ever complain that they’re bored when they stay here.

’'People thought I was a little crazy at first but it’s really paying off now.”
