GameStop to close in Wyoming Valley Mall

Feb. 15—GameStop is the latest store slated to close in the Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre Twp., according to a sign posted outside the business.

Efforts to reach a spokesperson for GameStop were unsuccessful on Monday.

The retailer sells video games, electronics and gaming merchandise.

A GameStop formerly located in Wilkes-Barre Twp. Commons was destroyed in a tornado in June 2018 and another location opened afterwards in the Wilkes-Barre Twp. Marketplace near Walmart.

The Wyoming Valley Mall was losing tenants before the coronavirus shutdown and more businesses have closed during the pandemic including Justice, Schuylkill Valley Sports and Gertrude Hawk Chocolates, which recently opened a new store in the closed Pier 1 Imports building in the nearby Arena Hub Plaza.
