Game Of Thrones' Joe Dempsie reveals elaborate rules cast must follow to avoid spoilers leaking

Every week Game Of Thrones’ fans face the difficult task of not coming across any spoilers from the fantasy drama’s latest episode before they get a chance to watch it for themselves.

In fact, spoilers are one of the biggest struggles that comes with being a fan of the show, with Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, previously admitting that he filmed 15 hours of fake footage to avoid spoilers being leaked once the paparazzi discovered where the cast were filming.

Now Joe Demspie, who plays Gendry, has opened up about the other extreme lengths that production go through in order to keep important plot points top secret, with the cast expected to adhere to a selection of strict rules to minimise the risk of spoilers.

Speaking to i newspaper, the 30-year-old actor revealed that each character has a code name in the scripts and that the cast have to sign off their dialogue and return it to the crew at the end of each day.

He shared: “We all have secure emails now.

“When you get on set the call sheets, the list of scenes for the day and which characters are in them, [but] each character has a code name and unless you knew the key you wouldn’t be able to figure out which character was interacting with others.

“Your pages of dialogue for the day have to be signed for in the morning and then given back at the end of the day.”

Joe, who first shot to fame in E4 teen drama Skins, made his much-awaited return to Westeros in last week’s episode of the show, with Gendry last being seen at the end of season three, rowing to King’s Landing.
